When do Black Friday monitor deals start?

Monitor deals usually start appearing by mid-November, long before Black Friday itself on November 28th. Typically, we see “early Black Friday” offers first, with better discounts landing during Thanksgiving week and carrying through to Cyber Monday on December 1st. In many cases, the lowest prices appear sometime between those two dates, though worthwhile deals often emerge early and quietly sell out.

Most major retailers will be offering competitive pricing, but a few consistently perform well during Black Friday. Amazon typically price-matches throughout the week, making it a reliable place to check for 4K and ultrawide discounts. Best Buy and Newegg often run some of the best deals on high-end creative monitors from brands like ASUS ProArt, LG UltraFine, Dell UltraSharp, and BenQ’s PhotoVue line.

What to look for in a monitor deal if you edit photos or video

Not all monitors are created equal, and creators have their own set of priorities that general shoppers often overlook. The first is color accuracy. Look for monitors that cover at least 100% sRGB and ideally 98–100% of DCI-P3 or AdobeRGB. These wider gamuts ensure what you see on screen matches what you output, whether that’s a YouTube upload, a digital portfolio, or a print.

Next is the panel type. IPS and OLED displays remain the best choices for creators. IPS offers consistent color accuracy and viewing angles, while OLED adds perfect contrast, deep blacks. For video editors, HDR capability and true 10-bit color are worth prioritising, as they allow smoother gradations and better dynamic range when working with modern footage.

A 4K panel gives you the clarity needed for fine retouching and provides enough screen real estate to manage timelines, palettes, and toolbars. If you multitask heavily or regularly work with large panoramas or 6K/8K video, ultrawide or dual-monitor setups can also be a strong investment.

Should you buy a monitor on Black Friday?

In almost every case, yes. Black Friday is one of the few times premium creator monitors receive meaningful discounts. If you’ve been eyeing a calibrated 4K display or a new OLED panel, chances are you’ll find a stronger offer now than at any point in the rest of the year. It is also worth pointing out that during previous sales periods, high-quality colourimeters and spectrometers from brands like X‑Rite i1Display Pro, Calibrite Display, and Datacolor SpyderPro have dropped significantly in price. If you’ve upgraded to a wide-gamut 4K or OLED screen, a calibration tool nearly pays for itself by unlocking that panel’s true potential. Use this sales window to grab one while the deals are strongest.
