It appears that Leica may be delaying its rumored M EV1 launch, as several of the company’s scheduled events in the United States have reportedly been canceled.

According to a report from Leica Rumors, Leica USA has called off multiple private events originally set for October 22, 2025, citing “unforeseen circumstances.”

“Dear Esteemed Client,
We were sincerely looking forward to hosting you at our private Leica evening on Wednesday, October 22. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we must regretfully cancel the scheduled events in New York, Boston, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Bellevue,” the company’s message reportedly reads.

The timing of these cancellations has fueled speculation that they could impact the anticipated release of the Leica M EV1, a rumored new model whose first leaked image surfaced earlier this week. The camera was expected to be announced on October 23, 2025, during Leica’s Open Day event.

Possible Reasons Behind the Cancellation

Leica Rumors suggests that the cancellations may be related to the ongoing U.S. tariffs on European imports. These tariffs have significantly affected Leica’s pricing structure, with some premium models increasing by up to 10%. Products manufactured in China have reportedly faced even steeper hikes, at one point rising by as much as 90%.
