Godox has unveiled its latest innovation — a modular compact flash and wireless trigger system that supports TTL and HSS across all major camera brands. The new iT32 Mini Flash and X5 TTL Wireless Flash Trigger are now available for preorder for just $98 as a kit.

A Compact, Modular Flash with Modern Features

At first glance, the Godox iT32 Flash looks like a conventional speedlight, complete with a rotating and tilting head, built-in reflector and diffuser, rear touchscreen interface, and an LED modeling lamp. Inside, it packs a 2.4GHz wireless receiver, a 900mAh rechargeable lithium battery, and a USB-C port for charging and firmware updates. It also supports magnetic color filters, adding flexibility for creative lighting setups.

Where the iT32 truly stands out is in its modular design. Unlike most flashes with a built-in hot shoe connection, the iT32 features a detachable dumb hot shoe, allowing it to mount directly onto a camera or other accessories. The hot shoe can also be removed entirely to attach the flash magnetically to the Godox X5 Wireless Flash Trigger.

“The magnetic interface between iT32 and X5 ensures a stable, one-click connection that’s firm yet quick to detach,” Godox explains. Once connected, the flash automatically identifies the X5 version to provide full TTL and HSS support for the specific camera system in use.

Wireless Integration Across the Godox Ecosystem

The iT32 acts as a 2.4GHz wireless receiver, while the X5 serves as both a transmitter and controller. Godox promises a stable and instant connection between the two, eliminating the need for manual pairing.

Interestingly, the X5 and iT32 can also function as a master controller for other Godox flashes with built-in 2.4GHz receivers, maintaining compatibility with the broader Godox X wireless system.

“The iT32 and X5 offer a universal solution for photographers working across different camera systems,” Godox says. “Its interchangeable magnetic X5 hot shoe allows instant switching between brands by simply changing the X5 version. This flexible design helps photographers focus more on creativity and less on equipment compatibility.”

While Godox’s wireless triggers have long supported cross-brand functionality, the modular, magnetic design of the iT32 system introduces a new level of portability and convenience for hybrid shooters.

Compact Build and Capable Performance

The iT32 Mini Flash is impressively compact, measuring only 101 x 56 x 39 millimeters and weighing 170 grams. It offers a guide number of 18 meters (ISO 100), a flash duration as fast as 1/30,000s, and a recycle time of 1.5 seconds.

Users can adjust flash power from 1/128 to 1/1 in 1/3-stop increments, with ±3 EV flash compensation available. The iT32 can also be triggered wirelessly up to 80 meters away, making it versatile for on-location shoots.

Pricing and Availability

The Godox iT32 TTL Mini Flash is available for preorder now for $79, while the Godox X5 Wireless Trigger retails for $19.90. The X5 will be available in multiple versions for Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, OM System, and Sony cameras.

The iT32 + X5 kit is priced at $98 and will begin shipping soon through major retailers and the official Godox store.

As we run up to Black Friday, companies are starting to announce their best sales of the year. We will be bringing you all of the Best Video Studio Black Friday Deals in 2025.

Video creation is more popular and easier than ever. Cameras and smartphones have gotten video capabilities that were only found in professional cameras just a few years ago. The prices of pro-level video tools have plummeted.

At the same time, social media video has exploded, and everyone, it seems, is a creator now. To make the most of the power of video cameras, you need to have the right gear. From microphones, to lighting, to teleprompeters, this is your guide to the best video gear we’ve found for Black Friday.

How do Black Friday Deals Compare to Other Sale Events

Most photographic and videographic manufacturers have discounts for Black Friday. The rest of the year, they offer sporadic deals, usually on just a few items they’re trying to clear out of inventory. Those deals are hard to predict, and can sometimes have only minor discounts, while generally, Black Friday deals offer greater savings.

Should I Wait Until Black Friday to Buy Photo and Video Gear?

If you find a deal in this guide even before Black Friday, it’s likely to be the largest discount available for the whole Black Friday season. Companies rarely offer sales in October or early November and then provide the same products at a higher savings.

When is Black Friday

This year, Black Friday lands on November 28, 2025, followed by Cyber Monday on November 31. Like every year, popular online retailers will be cutting prices across their lineups.

Godox has announced the AD400 Pro II, the second-generation version of its 400W portable strobe. The updated flash features a refreshed design, improved usability, and several performance upgrades from the company’s higher-end models. It is now available for pre-order at $649.

Key Changes to the AD400 Pro II

Designed for photographers who need a balance between power and portability, the AD400 Pro II maintains the same 400Ws output as the original but introduces a 2.4-inch color display, a redesigned control layout, and a 30W bi-color LED modeling lamp with a 2800K–6500K temperature range. It also gains faster wireless performance, improved syncing options, and enhanced high-speed capabilities, making it suitable for both studio and on-location shooting.

The flash uses Godox’s 2.4GHz Wireless X System, supporting up to 16 groups and 32 channels with a working range of 100 meters. It remains compatible with popular Godox triggers, including the X1, X2T, XPro II, and the new X3, and introduces a new Group Color Function, allowing users to assign colors to each group for easier identification in complex lighting setups.

Inside, the AD400 Pro II still delivers 400 watt-seconds of power with adjustable output down to 1/512. Its 21.6V/2600mAh lithium battery provides up to 460 full-power flashes per charge, with recycle times ranging from 0.01 to 1 second. The flash supports high-speed sync up to 1/8000s and debuts a Freeze Mode, enabling ultra-short flash durations as fast as 1/27,770s (t0.1), making it ideal for freezing fast motion.

“With 400 Ws of output and up to 460 full-power flashes per charge, the AD400 Pro II delivers sustained, studio-grade performance on location. High-speed sync up to 1/8000 s lets you freeze action and balance flash in bright conditions. Whether you’re shooting high-dynamic sports or ultra-short exposures in daylight, every detail comes through with stunning clarity,” Godox says.

The flash has a guide number of GN72 at ISO 100 with the standard reflector, providing plenty of power for indoor and outdoor setups. Its updated 30W bi-color LED modeling lamp features high CRI/TLCI ratings of 97/98, making it a capable option for video work as well.

Weighing 2kg, the AD400 Pro II is built for portability and comes bundled with a reflector, carrying bag, battery, and charger. It also supports a wide range of light modifiers, including Bowens, Profoto, Elinchrom, and Broncolor adapters, and works with the optional H400P extension head for more flexible setups.

The AD400 Pro II joins the AD200 Pro II and AD600 Pro II in Godox’s Wistro lineup, giving photographers a full range of strobe options based on power and portability needs.

BUY NOW: Godox V1-C round head camera flash kit – Was $259.00, Now $199.00 at Amazon

What We Like About the Godox V1-C Round Head Camera Flash

Round head camera flashes, like this Godox V1-C, are a good call if you’re looking to produce a softer and more even light, which is why they’re usually the go-to for portraits, weddings, and studio work. If that’s your area, then this flash will already be ticking most of the boxes for you.

But on top of that, this flash is actually a few levels up from your standard offerings, and brings with it a faster than usual recycle rate, built in LED modelling lamp, and punch battery that can deliver a huge amounts of shots. Overall, it’s a great flash for both beginners and more seasoned photographers who shoot on Canon. Be sure to check the product listing page to make sure you’re camera is compatible.

  • 1/8000s high-speed sync: More than enough for studio work and great if you’re looking to capture fast motion shots.
  • Built-in LED modeling lamp: Great for taking the guesswork out of the equation and allowing you to easily and efficiently fine-tune your flash.
  • Fast recycle rate: Comes in at 1.5s, which is around four times faster than most flashes.
  • High-performance battery: This 7.2V/ 2600mAh battery can give you 480 power shots.

Is It a Good Time To Buy?

As usual, we’ve checked price tracker camelcamelcamel to see if it’s the best time to buy, and we’re happy to say that it certainly is. This flash is currently at its lowest price ever after dropping on May 23rd, 2025, meaning it’s been discounted for a while now.

As for whether it’s jumping back up to full price soon, we can’t be for certain; however, if you’ve had your eye on it, we’d say it’s worth going for sooner rather than later to be safe. It may drop further in price in the future, but this will likely be during the major sales events on Amazon, such as Prime Day or Black Friday.

Overall, if you’re looking for a quality, versatile flash for less, then this is a great option to consider, especially if you’re sticking to a budget of under $200.

Pre-Order now at B&H Photo: SmallRig RC 220C RGB COB LED Video Light $409.00

A Lightweight and Compact Yet Versatile RGB COB Light

At just under 1.8kg (1,750g) and measuring 380mm long, this little unit can easily ride in your backpack. But don’t let the size fool you. The RC 220C cranks out a very solid 8,160 lux at 3200K from one meter, and it’s backed by impressive color science: CRI 97+ and TLCI 98+, so you’re getting the kind of color accuracy that matters on serious shoots.

Unlike its bi-color predecessor, the 220C spans a wide 2500K to 10,000K color temperature range and adds full RGBCW spectrum control, letting you dial in one of 36,000 color options-whether you’re simulating daylight, candlelight, or something a little more creative. The color transition is smooth and natural, with no nasty casts or flickers.

What makes this light especially practical is its power flexibility. Sure, it runs on AC, but it also supports V-mount and NP-F batteries, which makes it a go-to for location shoots or mobile setups where wall outlets are a luxury. You can control it directly with onboard dials and a screen, or wirelessly through SmallRig’s SmallGoGo app, which also lets you sync multiple lights-a must for multicam or interview setups. If you’re working with more advanced control systems, it’s also DMX-compatible.SmallRig RC200C on location.

There’s a built-in cooling fan that keeps the light running smoothly without cooking your set, and in noise-sensitive environments, you can switch to Silent Mode (though brightness is reduced in that mode). Even at full blast, the fan only hits 28dB, which is pretty discreet.

SmallRig says the compact design comes from GaN integration, which allows for a 48% smaller build compared to traditional COB lights. And despite that slimmed-down profile, the light is built like a tank. The metal body supports heavy modifiers with ease thanks to its Bowens mount and umbrella socket.

Price and Availability

The SmallRig RC 220C is available now for $409 USD / £385.90 / AU $664.90, with U.S. shipping starting June 16. For the price, it’s hard to beat-especially for an RGB COB that’s this capable, portable, and genuinely usable as a key light.

If you’re in the market for a flexible, color-accurate light that travels well and delivers professional results, the RC 220C is definitely one to watch.

When shooting natural light outdoor portraits, the sun is an important part of your lighting. However, the sun is extremely bright and high overhead for much of the day, creating harsh shadows. You could use artificial light to help even things out, but that’s another piece of gear to worry about. In his latest “Laws of Light” video, Jay P. Morgan of The Slanted Lens shows how using a shoot through umbrella can transform challenging natural light into beautiful light.

In the video below, Morgan shows how to position a portrait subject with bright overhead light. The next step is to have the sunlight come through a large umbrella. Morgan is using a Westcott 7′ white diffusion umbrella and stand. Without the umbrella, the harsh overhead light is causing many shadows on the subject, and it just looks bad. The 7′ umbrella completely changes the light, making it much softer while maintaining a natural look.

If you place the subject facing the sun and then put the umbrella in front of the subject, the light will be very soft and a bit flat. If you want light with more directionality, you can move the umbrella to the subject’s side, which builds a bit more shadow on the subject’s face, adding depth. Both styles are equally valid, of course, but the important takeaway is that you can change the look by moving the umbrella around and changing the distance between the umbrella and your subject.

Last week, Pye Jirsa of SLR Lounge showed us how to capture distinct, high-quality portraits with a single off-camera strobe as part of the ongoing “Master your Craft” video series for Adorama. This week, Jirsa is back, and he’s brought a second light. Using a pair of lights, you can capture a stunning “spotlight” style portrait that pops.

What do you need for a two-light “spotlight” portrait? Just about any camera will do. Jirsa recommends a longer lens. He’s opted for a Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8. For lighting, you’ll want a pair of off-camera strobes and a snoot light modifier. You can also use a grid. The idea is that you need to control your light. Your main light needs to be focused, whereas your second light will act as a rim light, so there aren’t strict requirements for a light modifier.
